Speech-Language Pathologist

Hi, I’m Amanda!

I am a medical speech-language pathologist in Massachusetts with a special interest in neurologically-based swallowing disorders and developmental delays in both the pediatric and adult populations as well as palliative care.

Education + Training

Undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University and master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University.  Masters-level student internship and swallowing training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and clinical fellowship with a focus on feeding / swallowing disorders at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Clinical Specialties

Extensive experience in outpatient, acute care, rehabilitative care, skilled nursing and home care environments. Special interests in dysphagia management, augmentative communication, end of life care, patient-family advocacy, and clinical instruction of SLP students.

Classroom Instruction

Teaches at the undergraduate and graduate level in speech-language pathology.  Recent courses include Intro to Communication Sciences & Disorders, Speech & Hearing Science, and Dysphagia. On-campus coordinator for undergraduate level practica.

Other Instruction

Author of e-course at Northern Speech Services, Tackling Palliative Rehabilitation: The SLP’s Guide to End of Life Services. Invited speaker on numerous occasions, presenting talks on oral and pharyngeal swallowing disorders to patients and caregivers, nurses, physicians and rehabilitation specialists.

Medical Expert Witness

Available to consult and testify in the area of medical speech-language pathology including adult and pediatric swallowing disorders and end of life issues.
