Colorado

CO from a van.

I took the trip of a lifetime this summer. 10 days in Colorado driving around exploring with no agenda in the most amazing camper van. Each day we drove when we wanted to, hiked when we wanted to, explored when we wanted to, ate when we wanted to, and parked when we wanted to.

We drank on a rooftop in Denver, saw the Avett Brothers at Red Rocks, hiked Mt Flora (a 14,000 ftr), went to church with some sinners, watched some YouTube stars jump off cliffs into the water, found a natural hot spring, found some wild animals in the National Park, drove a boat around Grand Lake, bought a T-shirt in Boulder, and much much more.

I can’t wait to go back.

PEMI-LOOP

The Pemi-Loop swoop and pull.

The Pemi Loop is a loop hike in New Hampshire that covers 20+ miles. I did this hike at a slow relaxing pace in two different outings. On the first outing I stayed one night at Garfield Ridge Campsite and one night at the Guyot Shelter. I was joined by my friends Ying and Tiago. The second outing I stayed one night at the Liberty Springs tent site. I was accompanied by my friend Jenny and Sue.

  • Mt. Flume: 4,328 feet
  • Mt. Liberty: 4,459 feet
  • Mt. Lincoln: 5,089 feet
  • Mt. Lafayette: 5,260 feet
  • Mt. Garfield: 4,500 feet
  • South Twin: 4,902 feet
  • Mt. Bond: 4,698 feet
  • Bondcliff: 4,265 feet

The loop features between 10,000 and 12,000 feet of elevation gain and the most spectacular views.

Acorn Street Engagement

Some photos of a happy street and a happier couple

Acorn street is one of the most photographed streets in the world and it just happens to be right in my backyard.

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this sweet young couple after their engagement. If the walls of this street could talk I wonder what stories they would tell.

Luckily, we only were yelled at by neighbors once, I don’t think they are too fond of all the visitors they have on a daily basis.

QUINCY QUARRY

A summer adventure.

Freelance work brings some exciting opportunities for adventure. While I work less in the summer I have more time to explore areas that aren’t far from home with my family. Recently, we discovered this incredible old rock quarry that has been emptied and turned into a canvas for artists, drunk teens, rock climbers and a slew of other folks. We got the chance to make our mark on that canvas on one of the most beautiful days.

Check out the Quincy Quarry Reservation in Quincy, MA – https://www.mass.gov/locations/quincy-quarries-reservation.

The Bear Cages

THE BEAR CAGES

FRANKLIN PARK ZOO | ABANDONED BEAR CAGES

I love bears. In fact one of my favorite quotes comes from a little bear named Paddington. He said, “I’ll never be like other people, but that’s ok because I’m a bear”. Those are solid words to live by.

This weekend we did some exploring around Boston and stumbled upon some old cages in the woods of Franklin Park. These cages were once the home of the bear exhibit of the Franklin Park Zoo. The bears are long gone but now these cages are an incredible location for filming your next horror film or for a photo shoot for your favorite future boy band.

MARATHON MONDAY

MARATHON MONDAY

The Boston Marathon is probably one of my favorite days of the year in Boston. Usually, it is the day that brings our city out of the dark winter, everyone climbs out of their hole to welcome visitors and enjoy watching thousands of amazing athletes. It is a day that gets us excited, makes us feel alive, and motivates us into spring. This year we had a long winter. A really long winter.  It just seemed to drag on and on and on…and on. Even into the marathon. It was a cold and rainy day.

We didn’t last long as spectators, only about an hour. But we did get to see the winners and elite runners pass. Watching the athletes run in those conditions was even more amazing and inspiring than in past years.
